Past Projects
2010 BDFAS worked with Bromley Council to mount an Art Competition and Exhibition for local schools inspired by the River Beck. Artwork was submitted by 47 children from five local schools. First prizes of £50 were presented in each of two age categories, 5 to 7 and 8 to 11, and there were seven individual merit awards of £20. Balgowan Primary School won the award of £300 for the outstanding quality of its entries overall, and Alexandra Infant School and Highfield Infant and Junior Schools each won awards of £70 for the quality of their entries.
2009 BDFAS made a grant of £750 to help funded an artist to work with Year 5 pupils at Hawes Down Junior School to introduce them to silk painting techniques and to create four silk wall hangings inspired by a recent school visit to Ashdown Forest. Examples of the work are shown right.
2008 We helped fund a visiting artist to work with children in Year 2 at Bromley Road Infant School. BDFAS’s grant of £750 was used to introduce the pupils to screen printing techniques and help them to create a banner on the theme of ‘Minibeasts’ to hang in their school vestibule.
